Itinerary

Day 1McLeod ganj – Triund (2975m) Trek/9km

A mixed forest with oak, rhododendron and deodar trees is traversed along the walk. After Galu Devi Temple, there is a gentle ascent after the first two kilometres of intense climbing. The final kilometre climbs steeply into the trees once more. On top of a ridge lies a level meadow called Triund. This location offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Kangra Valley on one side and the Dhauladhar mountain on the other. Spend the night in tents or private homes.

Day 2Triund – Lahesh Cave (3500m) Trek/6km

Today is a day of acclimatisation. Travel across a ridge after a brief climb from Triund to arrive at Laka Got, a makeshift shepherd camp. Laka Got is located at the tip of a small glacier, which melts during the monsoon season and is covered in snow and ice in the early summer. It’s a two-kilometer sleep rise from Laka Got. Beyond the rocky ridge lies Lahesh Cave. Spend the night in the Laka Got camp’s cave.

Day 03Lahesh Cave – Nag Dal (4350 m) Trek/7 km

Commence early in the day because the weather turns sour in the afternoon. The trail is covered in snow in the early summer months of April through May, therefore proper gear is needed. There is no snow or ice during the post-monsoon season, which runs from September to November. A small trail leads up to the pass. The trip to the pass and Nag Dal Lake takes roughly four and three hours, respectively.Spend the night on the lake.

Day 04Nag Dal – Lam Dal (3800 m) Trek/7 km

We will travel to Lam Dal Lake, another holy lake, on this day. It takes roughly four hours to get up the pass, and an additional three hours to get to this sacred lake. Spend the night by this lake’s edge.

Day 05 Lam Dal – Kareri Lake (3300m) Trek/ 8km

The walk continues steeply for at least six to seven hours before arriving at Kareri Lake, another historically significant lake. Spend the night on the lake.

Day 06Kareri Lake – Kareri Village (1700m) Trek/10km

There is a sharp drop through the will lead back to Kareri Village after a little distance from the lake. Spend the night in Kareri Village.

Day 07Kareri Village – Guna Temple (2400m) Trek/10Km

The beautiful walk from Kareri Village to Guna Devi Temple. Overnight stay in temple.

Day 08Guna Temple – Mcleod Ganj Back

The stunning trek that leads to this holy temple passes via Naddi Village and the well-known Dal Lake. You can extend this walk by returning to Mcleodganj by a different path that passes by Galu Temple and Dharamkot.

The purpose of the 7 Lakes Trek is adventure and a powerful burst of adrenaline. A high-altitude valley surrounded by the towering peaks of the Western Dhauladhar range lies to the west of Dharamshala. This region is home to seven snow-fed lakes, is rich in mythology, and is considered one of the most sacred sites for the nearby Gaddi tribesmen. The weather is unpredictable, the terrain is difficult, and the trek itself is difficult. A great walk for avid wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and explorers.
