Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kareri Village

The trek begins with arrival at Kareri Village, a beautiful mountain village located near Dharamshala in the Dhauladhar Range. Trekkers check into their homestay or campsite, attend a short briefing about the trek, and prepare their gear for the upcoming journey. The evening can be spent exploring the peaceful village surroundings. Overnight stay is at Kareri Village.

Day 2Kareri Village to Rauti Campsite

On the second day, the trek starts from Kareri Village and heads towards Rauti Campsite, which lies midway on the trail to Kareri Lake. The trail passes through dense pine forests, wooden bridges, and scenic river crossings along the Kareri Nallah. After trekking for several hours, trekkers reach Rauti and set up camp for the night in this peaceful forest campsite.

Day:3Rauti Campsite to Kareri Lake

The third day’s trek continues uphill from Rauti towards Kareri Lake. As the forest trail opens into alpine meadows, trekkers start getting spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Eventually, the group reaches Kareri Lake, a crystal-clear high-altitude lake known for its breathtaking beauty. Trekkers explore the area and camp overnight near the lake.

Day 4Har Ki Dun Trek | Descend to Kalkatidhar

In the morning, enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding and get ready for your next trek. Begin your trek passing through waterfalls and reach the confluence point of River Supin and Ruinsara. Also, enjoy the snow-clad peaks of the Black Peak, the highest peak in the region. Continue your journey to the beautiful Marinda Tal and get to know about it’s religious significance. Later, begin your downhill trek to Kalkatidhar campsite followed by an overnight stay.

Day 5Kareri Lake to Nagara Campsite

From Kareri Lake, the trek moves deeper into the mountains towards Nagara campsite. This part of the trail offers wide views of the rugged peaks of the Dhauladhar range and beautiful alpine landscapes. The route is quieter and more remote, giving trekkers a true wilderness experience. The night is spent camping at Nagara.

Day:6Nagara to Lamdal Lake

The trek continues from Nagara to the sacred Lamdal Lake, one of the most important lakes in the Dhauladhar region. Surrounded by towering peaks and glaciers, Lamdal Lake is considered a holy place by locals. Trekkers spend time exploring the lake and its surroundings before camping overnight nearby.

Day:6Lamdal Lake to Kareri Lake

After enjoying the peaceful environment of Lamdal Lake, the return journey begins. Trekkers hike back towards Kareri Lake while once again enjoying the stunning high-altitude scenery of the Dhauladhar mountains. The group camps near Kareri Lake for the night.

Days 7Kareri Lake to Kareri Village (Trek Ends)

On the final day, trekkers descend from Kareri Lake back to Kareri Village through the same scenic forest trail. The trek usually concludes between 1 PM and 3 PM upon reaching the village, marking the end of an unforgettable adventure through alpine lakes, forests, and the majestic landscapes of the Dhauladhar range.
