Itinerary

Day 1Drive from Dharamshala to Ghera Village

We depart early in the morning for Ghera Village, which might take up to two hours.
We will travel to Kareri Village for a few more hours after resting and refuelling. Once there, we have the option of setting up tent in the lovely meadow next to the stream, checking into the Forest Guest House, which is 10 minutes away by foot from the camping area, or staying at one of the neighbouring bed and breakfasts. The Hill Hikers  crew would offer food and drinks as well as a campfire.

Day 2Kareri Village Camp to Lioti (2450m).  Duration: 4-5 hrs walk

To get to Liyoti, the first part of our walk today is a difficult climb through a forested area along the Liund river. The track follows a river, which must be crossed several times via a variety of makeshift bridges and stones. At Liyoti, we set our camp tonight in a grassy field.

Day3Liyoti to Kareri Lake

The walk we took today was not very far. At the foot of Minkani pass lies a little alpine lake called Kareri lake. The lake continues to hold religious importance for the locals who make yearly pilgrimages here. The lakeside open meadow where we will be camped tonight offers expansive views of the valley below, Minkani Pass, and Baleni Pass.

Day4Kareri Lake - Lam Dal

The views from the pass must be seen early in the day because it usually becomes gloomy by afternoon. To get to the summit, it takes four to five hours. To get to the campground at MinkIani Got, you must go another two hours downwards. In the tents for the night.

Day5Camp– Lam Dal (3900 MTS.) - Kareri Lake

After breakfast, begin the hike to Kareri Lake. The highest point of the journey, Minkayani pass, is where Kareri Lake travels. climbing a mountain route until Minkayani Jot, which is located at an elevation of 4100 metres above sea level. Minkayani Jot offers a view of the Kangra Valley below, where Kareri Lake may be seen nestled deep within the valley. It takes 2-4 hours to descend to Kareri Lake.

Day6Kareri Lake to Kareri village

Early in the morning, begin the descent to Kareri village. The trek follows the Nyund creek. Trekking over streams many times using makeshift bridges constructed by the local inhabitants. Near Nouli village, Trek meets the road, although it is still impassable to vehicles. To get to Kareri village, you must continue walking for another 2 kilometres along the road.
20 km/1-2 hours, Kareri village to Macleodganj
It takes 1-2 hours to drive from Kareri Valley to Macleodganj. Vehicle departs from the hotel.

Lam Dal Lake is regarded as the valley’s holly lake. Anyone could be surprised to find such a sizable lake in these high mountain terrains. The lake has a 2.5 kilometre circumference and takes two hours to round. During Krishan Janmastmi, locals go to the lake and take holly dips in the water. Shiva and Shakti are said to reside in this lake. It is not permitted to camp close to the lake. Numerous tiny caverns may be seen nearby, along with a few of the locals’ makeshift stone settlements. They stay at this place while they are in Lam Dal. Most frequently, a local shepherd by the name of Gaddi uses these caverns. Every year, pilgrims from the regions of Kangra and Chamba come here for a Holly dip in the Holy lake.
