Meet at Kharota village after breakfast (12 km from ISBT Dharamshala). Reach Kharota village, the starting site of the Thatharana trek. Start with a strenuous 3- to 4-hour climb through a thick forest of deodar, oak, and rhododendron. On the way, be sure to stop for a lunch break. Thatharana is reached after three hours of trekking through a beautiful highland meadow tucked directly on top of a ridge. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking, offering views of the Kangra Valley from an eagle’s eye perspective on one side and the stunning snow-capped Dhauladhar mountains on the other. For an overnight stay, set up your tents beneath the starry sky and relish a well-earned supper accompanied by soft music and a bonfire.
The taste of hot tea and a beautiful sunrise at Thatharana Trek will wake you up early. Eat breakfast. Take the same route back to the settlement of Kharota after leaving the campsite as you found it when you first arrived. When we get to Kharota, our guide will make arrangements for a taxi to take us to the McLeod market upon request (at an additional cost). Check-in at the Mcleodganj hotel (not included in the package) to have a change of clothes and some rest. Give yourself some alone time to explore and start moving forward with these wonderful memories from this weekend. After reaching Kharota village, the walk comes to an end.
