Day 01 Kharota village to Thatharana campsite | 4-5 hours trek | 5 Kms
Meet after breakfast at Kharota village (12 Kms from ISBT Dharamshala) Arrive in Kharota village, the starting site of the Thatharana trek. Start by climbing steeply for around three to four hours through a thick rhododendron, oak, and deodar forest. Make sure to stop along the route for lunch. Thatharana is a gorgeous highland meadow that is located directly on top of a ridge and is reached after 3 hours of hiking.
The surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning, with views of the Kangra valley on one side and the snow-capped Dhauladhar mountains on the other. Set up your tents for an overnight stay beneath the starry night sky, and then take in a well-earned meal with some soft music and a campfire.
Day 02 Thatharana to Kharota village | Downhill trek | 3 hours
Breakfast should be had as soon as you awaken in the morning to the call of hot tea and a beautiful dawn at Thatharana Trek. Exit the campsite as you found it when you arrived, then follow the same route back to Kharota village. Our guide will organise the taxi upon request (at an additional cost) for transportation to the McLeod market after we arrive in Kharota.
